"My ROI on local search advertising is literally 10 times better than my Yellow Pages ad."

Internet Advertising is Better Than Yellow Pages

Learn to Advertise your Local Business on the Internet.

Start with this site as an example.

You are viewing the Homepage (index.html) now. You can choose from your Browser's Menu, File, SaveAs and save a copy of this page to your computer. It won't be displayed quite the same until you have the style sheet that goes with it.

DO THIS

Start with this simple site on your computer.

Download these files and you have a Practice Web Site on your Computer.

Click this link to download: Download Practice Web Site

Unzip the file and then double click on the index.html file which should open the Homepage in your browser. Now, right-click the index.html file which will open a pop-up menu and choose Open With.. then Notepad.

Now you are looking at the index.html in two ways.

Your Browser (Internet Explorer?) is displaying the index.html file as you normally see a web page.

Notepad is displaying the html code that the Browser reads and interprets to know how to display the web page (index.html).

You should then be able to navigate to the other pages and back again to the Homepage.

Next>>> To Practice making changes to your web pages:

Make Your Changes

You can modify the pages to suit yourself by right-clicking the file and from the pop-up menu select Open With and the choices of programs which will open it will appear (Notepad, Word or whatever you have). Choose Notepad to open the file. What you see in Notepad is the html code that tells your browser what to display and how to display it.

Find The Text in the index.html file that appears in the browser – it should be about line number 20.

Make some changes in the text, then click File, Save.

View Your Changes

You must click the refresh button or click the go button to make your browser get another copy of the page which will include the changes that you just made.

You would follow the same procedure for the .css style sheet, change it, save it and refresh your browser. Just leave that one as is for now.

Upload To Your Web Server

All that remains to have a real web site is to upload to your web server.
